Why does our asset recovery methodology work so well?

The XS Asset RecoverySM Methodology leverages more than 15 years of specializing in the Information Technology aftermarket. We remarket IT equipment to end-users. Our expertise and retail customer base means we obtain the highest possible value for your IT assets. To put it simply, we can command a “used retail” price. Most other asset recovery operations sell through middlemen channels of brokers and dealers. They can only deliver a “used wholesale” value to you. We know because we buy from those channels.

Our disciplined, specialized and proven asset recovery methodology has maximized the recovered capital for companies like Disney, Lego, AT&T, Harris Corporation, ILM, Savvis, Savannah College of Art and Design and Circuit City, among others. Click here to find out how our services benefited these companies.

Our extensive database of end-users, segmented by manufacturer, system type and industry, has over 18,000 contacts. Our list is far superior to anything available from list brokers and has never been sold. We also have a 15-year presence in the Public Sector including the 1st GSA schedule for refurbished IT equipment. The Government Contractors we work with are long-term repeat clients. Add to that our working relationships with Global IT resellers, and you can see that our proven asset recovery methodology will maximize the recovered value for you.

Besides our customers and contacts, XS aggressively markets refurbished IT equipment to new markets. Our efforts ensure that we are always adding new contacts to our lists. They also drive awareness of our offering and our online stores to a huge market of end-users. Oh, and our remarketing sales team has sales certifications in IBM, HP, Sun and Cisco equipment, making them among the best in the industry.

Remarketing Methodology:

After we receive, test, report, refurbish and inventory your IT assets, we deliver a comprehensive evaluation. Based on more than 15 years experience, XS will provide you with an itemized list of your marketable assets. We also give you access to a private portal to track your IT assets throughout the process. You can check on sales and recovered revenue on your schedule.

Step 1: “End-User Sales:” Over 85% of XS’s customers are end-users. In fact, other asset recovery firms sell to us because we have such an extensive presence in the end-user market. End-users are willing to pay 10-40% more for quality hardware. XS commands a higher price because we refurbish the equipment, provide a warranty, and configure it to their specifications, bundled with software and/or services.

XS first markets your IT assets to our extensive buyer database. We also merchandise your IT equipment through our online stores, both proprietary and on e-commerce sites like eBay. Our integrated marketing efforts drive a constant stream of IT buyers to our commerce sites.

In addition, our direct sales force engages our customers via telephone and email. Our remarketing sales team has sales certifications in IBM, HP, Sun and Cisco equipment, making them among the best in the industry. Only XS has a dedicated sales team experienced in configuring refurbished systems for end-users.

Step 2: “XS Partner Channel:” After demand within the XS end-user market dwindles, we will begin to market your IT equipment to our Partner Channel. Our channel is an international database of well over 6,000 system integrators, value added resellers, consultants, and maintenance and repair organizations. And, because we have already refurbished your IT assets and provide warranties, your IT assets still command a premium price.

XS will not stop marketing your IT equipment to end-users. We will continue to offer your equipment through our online stores. By now offering your equipment to end-users and our channel, XS broadens the market for your IT equipment while still maintaining a higher price.

Step 3: “Remarketers and Brokers:” This channel typifies the one used by other Asset Recovery Firms. Because XS has over 15 years experience in IT equipment remarketing, we have assembled a robust, qualified list of 2,000 remarketers and brokers. These are suppliers we deal with on a daily basis. XS also belongs to all the B2B online remarketing portals.

Once we have exhausted demand within our Partner Channel, XS will market directly to this large database through email, phone calls and via the online remarketing portals. XS is still committed to recovering the highest value for your IT equipment. We will continue to market directly to end-users and our channel.

Step 4: “Highest Private Bid:” At this stage, we send an email to our entire database requesting offers on whatever is left of your IT equipment. We send this invitation to our complete database of end-users, our channel and our remarketers/brokers list. This often creates a sense of urgency and the opportunity to get the best possible price for you on what remains in inventory.

Step 5: “Absolute Auction or Component Parts:” Only after all other markets have been tapped, XS will work with you to determine the best course of action:

  1. At this point, we can try to sell your remaining IT equipment as whole units/systems via auction on eBay and other online auction engines, and traditional auction houses.
  2. We could also disassemble your IT equipment into component parts and recyclable content. We sell component parts for maintenance and support to both End-Users and our Partner Channel. We recycle the other pieces for scrap value.

XS normally receives higher bids in Step 5 since we have refurbished and warranted the equipment. XS has a reputation for delivering quality products in an efficient manner, with technical support and customer service follow-up. We also offer exporting and various payment and shipping options. All these add value that our competitors often cannot, commanding a higher price

Step 6: “Recycle Value:” After all the component parts that could be stripped and sold are gone, XS separates anything of value for sale to our Recycler Channel. These parts include glass, scrap metals, precious metals, resins (including skins), and leftover components. While the return is minimal at this stage, it is sometimes enough to cover the costs associated with proper disposal.

For recycling and disposal, XS partners with an EPA and DOD contracted company. It is one of only three in the U.S. We are committed to protecting our environment, and mitigating your risk.

Step 7: “Disposal:” When there is no remaining value in the asset then the equipment is processed by our recycling and disposal partner in accordance with governmental and environmental regulations.
