  1. Asset Inventory
  2. Deinstallation
    1. At XS Asset RecoverySM, we believe an end-to-end service solution should offer the flexibility to accommodate our customer’s needs. De-installing IT equipment can be a major undertaking; one for which you may not be prepared. XS Asset RecoverySM offers the optional service of providing the labor and managing the de-installation and logistics process for you; the cost of which can be covered up-front or recovered from the proceeds of asset sales. All systems are bar-coded and inventoried before removal from your site to ensure accuracy and accountability in handling. From workstations to Enterprise-class Servers, we’ll perform the breakdown and transport your equipment to the shipping docks. Our professionals will package, crate or palletize, shrink wrap and safely ship your hardware according to best practices. Whether you’re liquidating equipment at one location or several; from one floor or many; locally or globally; we’ll remove your current equipment with minimal interruption to the workplace.
    2. XS provides a full service deinstallation program including onsite deinstallation of any IT asset (including those that require deinstallation by certified engineers to protect the value of data and marketability in the aftermarket). The is lead by a qualified asset recovery project manager who oversees the systematic deinstallation, packing with anti-static controlled material, and loading the equipment onto trucks used by our transportation partners. All inventories are accounted for and signed off by our clients before it leaves their facility and equipment is professionally secured for shipment to our facilities.
  3. Transportation
    1. Through our global channel of transportation partners, XS Asset RecoverySM can arrange pickup and transportation service to our facility from any location with 72 hour advance notice. This optional capability, combined with our de-installation service, makes possible a single point-of-contact for all transportation and logistical service needs. Our global freight partners will box, crate, palletize and shrink-wrap your hardware according to industry standard procedures to protect from transit damage. As with our optional de-installation service, the added cost of XS Asset RecoverySM arranged transportation can be covered up-front or recovered from the proceeds of asset sales.
    2. All equipment is shipped with our transit partners that are large worldwide carriers that offer bulk discounts and insured under XS’ Travelers Marine Rider Policy for market-value when being transported in the U.S. or insured by the carrier for International shipments.
  4. Receiving Inventory
    1. All systems are electronically inventoried for tracking and reporting; from the testing procedure through to resale of the system or final disposal. Company asset tags and unit serial numbers are removed. Testing is performed in accordance with established procedures by certified technicians. After each unit is tested, the system is dispositioned for refurbishment and resale, or demanufacture and recycling/disposal. Our customers are then notified of systems that fail test or have no marketable value.
    2. All equipment allocated for Remarketing is shipped to our refurbishment facility in Alpharetta, Georgia (A technology corridor outside Atlanta). All equipment stored is sealed and palletized or crated, then stored in our secure and climate controlled warehouse and tracked via our ERP system by rack, shelf and bin location. Inventory is cycle counted daily and we provide an extranet interface to our clients so that they can track the equipment as easily as our operations team.
  5. Testing & Data Wipe
To assure that your company and client data remains secure, XS Asset RecoverySM overwrites all hard drives during the test procedure with industry standard software that conforms to DOD 5220.22-M 3X overwrite specification. Our certified technicians verify and document that all data is successfully removed. Any disk that can’t be overwritten is pulverized or shredded. Before any system is resold or destroyed, we provide a certificate of data destruction.

IT Equipment is fully inventoried when it is received then tested using proprietary diagnostics that generate detailed inventory and functionality reports. XS provides testing services for UNIX, Linux and Windows systems and all other IT assets as listed in our Equipment Covered section. The full detailed report is then emailed to our clients including images of the products and cosmetic reports.

XS meets DOD Standard 5220.22-M requirements for drive storage Data Sanitization and the deletion or purging of data stored in memory and provides detailed compliance reporting (See XS’s Compliance and Documentation) for our client’s legal records.

  6. Evaluate
  7. Refurbish Marketable Equipment
Our technicians have extensive experience refurbishing a wide range of IT equipment. Since 85% of XS’s sales are to end-user organizations with a large percentage to the Federal Government, we are required to have the highest standards of refurbishment in the business.
    1. Repair and Replacement: In order to derive the highest value in reselling equipment, XS will often repair or replace components, peripherals or skins that are non-functional or do not pass inspection.
    2. Integration: As a competitive advantage, XS provides integration services to our clients including software installation and hardware upgrades. Hardware upgrades include: CPU, I/O, memory, storage, graphics, data acquisition components, and audio/video devices.
    3. Crating and Packaging: XS emulates the manufacturers original crating when building new crates, palletizes equipment with foam injected spacers and anti-static wrapping with banding or packs equipment in two-ply 350lb test corrugated boxes with heavy-duty foam injection and anti-static wrapping. These services are available to all XS clients.
    4. Shipping (Or Drop Ship Blind): After testing, refurbishing or integration services, XS can ship or blind ship to your customer. When blind shipping, all products are packaged without any labeling in new packaging and we can include your packing list, shipping labels, box stickers and blind ship with your send from address and shipping account number. We then email you the tracking number for yours and your customer’s reference.
    5. Exporting: Twenty-five percent of XS’s clients are international entities with facilities overseas. Therefore, we are very adept at the appropriate paperwork and scheduling logistics carriers for International exporting.
    6. Extended Warranties and Maintenance Agreements: Once the equipment has gone through our extensive testing and refurbishment process, XS can provide warranties and 3rd party maintenance contracts including parts care with telephone technical support or onsite service agreements. This service is a critical benefit in choosing XS to provide asset recovery services because it makes your assets much more marketable.
    7. Certification for OEM Maintenance: Some end-users prefer to purchase only refurbished equipment that qualifies for the Original Manufacturer’s Maintenance so that they can simply add the equipment to their existing maintenance agreements. As a service, we contract IBM, HP and Sun to “Band” or “Re-Certify” this equipment to go back under their maintenance agreements. XS works with IBM, HP and Sun’s maintenance divisions so that putting this equipment back under OEM maintenance is easily accomplished.
